How much to throw away a bicycle in Japan?
Across the 14 cities we cover, the standard fee is ¥600–¥900 and the middle value is ¥900.
Tips
- Many cities charge less for children's bikes (under 16 inches).
- Remove the battery from an e-bike first; the battery goes back to a shop collection point.
- Cancelling the bicycle's anti-theft registration (防犯登録) is a separate procedure at a bike shop or police box.
